But in 2023, just as he was plotting his return, he was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. Rather than let it define him, Larry channeled his fight into music, rediscovering unreleased songs that became The Get Back, a triumphant statement of resilience. The album, released exactly one year after his diagnosis, went on to win Album of the Year at the Dallas Entertainment Awards, marking a new era for Larry and solidifying his place as one of Texas’ most dynamic voices.
