Gather your family and friends and join us for The Walk Home: Step Up for Denton County! This fun, family-friendly event welcomes all ages and fitness levels, with scenic trails that make it easy for everyone to participate. Whether you're walking for a cause or for some quality time with loved ones, your support helps provide housing stability for those experiencing homelessness in Denton County. Don't miss the chance to make a real difference!

We’re offering two route options: 

Cottonwood Loop - 2.6 Miles
The Cottonwood Loop is a scenic 1.3-mile path. Participants doing the long walk will complete the loop twice for a total of 2.6 miles.

Cicada Trail - .6 Miles
The Cicada Trail is a shorter .3-mile path that’s in and out. Walkers will return along the right side of the Cottonwood Loop, making it a total of about .6 miles.

Event Schedule:

  • 8:00 AM – Registration Opens, Park at Old Town Train Station
  • 8:00-9:00 AM – Shuttles to the Event Location
  • 9:00 AM – Walk Begins
  • 10:00-11:00 AM – Return Shuttles to Parking

Be sure to arrive early for registration and enjoy the shuttle service!

Here's what your participation means:

  • 1 walk registration can assist in replacing critical documents for employment and housing, such as an ID, a replacement birth certificate, etc. - (Averaging $35-50)
  • 5 walk registrations could provide a bus ticket, reuniting someone with a loved one or support system to a path to stability. - (Averaging $175 - $250)
  • 20 walk registrations would cover a first month's deposit needed for a household to move into safe and stable housing. - (Averaging $700 - $1,000)
