From the Hips! An Improv Cabaret
Welcome to From the Hips! The ultimate improv-lesque battle royale where Austin’s best burlesque, cabaret and drag performers will duke it out in a spontaneous whirlwind of feathers, fringe, rhinestones, and ATTITUDE. Only the most bold, inventive and fabulous will reign supreme. Don't miss out on a spectacular evening of impromptu artistry and fierce competition!
Competition Rules:
- Thematic Challenge: The theme will be announced to the performers and the audience two weeks before the show. Performers must craft an act that creatively incorporates this theme.
- Music Choice: Performers have the freedom to pick their own music, setting the perfect tone for their act.
- Original Acts Only: Each performance must be a fresh, original creation, never before seen by any audience.
- Random Element: Each performer will receive an additional random element—be it an object, an emotional state, or a physical action—that they must seamlessly integrate into their act.
Competition Criteria: Our distinguished panel of judges judges, seasoned veterans from the worlds of burlesque, drag, improv, and comedy, will score each act based on originality, presentation, confidence, choreography, and interpretation of the theme.
Prize: The stakes are high! The winner of the night will not only earn the coveted title of Top Tease but will also take home all tips collected from the audience. They will return in the next show to defend their title against new challengers.
