MONTANA 700
Montana 700, hailing from the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, is a driving force behind the "New Dallas" sound, a movement poised to reshape the city's hip-hop culture. With his nimble delivery, undeniable Texas drawl, and a commitment to authentic storytelling, Montana 700 is making 2025 his year.
His highly anticipated mixtape, 700 Reasons, marks a significant milestone, representing his first release with Remain Solid/300 Entertainment. This project is a deliberate nod to the golden era of Dirty South hip-hop, evoking the raw energy and street narratives that defined iconic labels like Cash Money and No Limit. Montana channels these influences to paint vivid pictures of life in the trenches, sharing his personal journey of striving for a better future and inspiring others to do the same. 700 Reasons isn't just a collection of songs; it's a testament to resilience, ambition, and the power of community.
The mixtape features a reimagined version of "Pipeline," Montana's breakout local hit, alongside "Count A Hunnit," a track that garnered attention from Jeezy himself, thanks to its sample of "And Then What." 700 Reasons also boasts guest appearances from other prominent figures in street rap, further solidifying Montana's connection to the broader hip-hop landscape. The project's release on February 7th via Remain Solid/300 Entertainment is eagerly awaited.
Prior to the mixtape announcement, Montana unveiled the music video for "Brinks Truck," a standout track from 700 Reasons. This propulsive and sonically rich anthem, built on shimmering synths, thunderous 808s, and ethereal vocals, embodies the pursuit of success. Montana, who also directed the video, showcases his multifaceted talent. The visual opens like a short film, depicting Montana's character working at a tire shop as a cover for a much larger scheme. The narrative unfolds as he and his crew execute a Brinks truck heist, using the proceeds to indulge in a lavish lifestyle. The video, coupled with the track's infectious energy, serves as both a motivational anthem and a potent visual statement.
Montana's journey began in 2022, when he emerged onto the scene with a sound that blended the distinct twang and heavy bass of Dallas rap with the broader sonic palette of Southern hip-hop. Alongside his close friend and frequent collaborator, Zillionaire Doe, Montana is a key figure in the "New Dallas" movement. This collective of young artists is dedicated to fostering a positive change within the city's hip-hop scene, aiming to replace violence with community and create opportunities for collective prosperity. His 2024 hit "Pipeline" catapulted him to local stardom, earning him the nickname "Mr. Pipeline" and accumulating millions of streams.
Despite the ever-shifting landscape of the music industry, including the potential challenges posed by platform changes and the rise of AI, Montana 700 remains focused on his goals. Even with recent staffing adjustments at his label, 300 Entertainment, including the retirement of CEO Kevin Liles, Montana's drive and ambition remain unwavering. He views these changes not as obstacles, but as opportunities. His strategic approach and unwavering dedication to his craft are evident in every move he makes. With 700 Reasons, Montana 700 is not just aiming for personal success; he's striving to elevate his entire city. He's not just making music; he's building a movement. Montana 700 is on a mission, and he's not stopping until he reaches the top.
