Vanita Leo w/ Gabacho & Guitarra Amorosa
Chasquis Presents:
Vanita Leo (San Antonio)
Coming from a rich lineage of Tejano heritage, Vanita Leo’s appetite for ushering in a new wave of Chicano sound was inevitable. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas with a bloodline from Mazatlan, Sinaloa; the culture that Vanita was raised in was a melting pot of sounds. Initially using the guise of lush bedroom pop as an introspective outlet of self-discovery & passion, Leo now devotes her talents to exploring the modern intersection of Latino & American music. Her influences includes Sade, José José, Alicia Villarreal, Etta James, Pilar Montenegro, and of course la reina de la cumbia Selena Quintanilla.
Gabacho (Chicago)
Gabacho, the solo project of Mexican-American songwriter Siul Reynoso, presents a singular sound informed by the complexities of an equally singular identity. A uniquely memorable songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, Siul’s lo-fi surf rock gems are defined by his ability to balance and integrate American pop music with traditional Mexican styles like Ranchera and Cumbia to create something truly new. His lyrics are written in both Spanish and English to best express his ideas and emotions according to the nature of each song.
Guitarra Amorosa (Laredo)
From Laredo, Texas, and to the world, Guitarra Amorosa works tirelessly to touch the hearts of his devoted fans. He is an artist with an unmistakable style and a passionate vision of the world.
