The Intemperate Sons burst onto the alternative rock scene in Dallas, TX, in the summer of 2019, immediately distinguishing themselves with a sound that blends searing guitar riffs, haunting melodies, and raw emotional depth. By 2021, their unmistakable talent caught the attention of Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh—legends in the rock world through their work with Orgy, Dead By Sunrise, and Julien-K—who signed the band to their label, Frame|Work. The Intemperate Sons offer a compelling take on alternative rock, merging the gritty intensity of hard rock with folk and grunge elements. Their music is a dark, introspective journey that resonates with the soul, drawing comparisons to iconic bands like Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and R.E.M. The familial bond between the Watson clan manifests in their unique sound—a blend of guitar-driven anthems and intricate vocal harmonies that echo long after the final chord. The Intemperate Sons’ debut album, The Color Within, was a highly successful collaboration with two legendary musicians in Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder) and Amir Derakh (Orgy, Dead By Sunrise, Julien-K). Both players contributed bass parts to eight of the ten tracks on the album. Amir mixed the record in his Long Beach, CA studio. In July of 2024, The Intemperate Sons released their highly anticipated and successful second album, Dark Day’s Night to the masses which was once again a collaboration with Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck at the producing helm.
