Described by Howie Mandel as “The New Young Don Rickles,” Alex Hooper isn’t afraid to push the boundaries in comedy. His unique style of blending dark humor with unapologetic positivity have garnered him attention from across the globe. He is best known for his work on two seasons of America’s Got Talent, where his performances have amassed hundreds of millions of views online. Other TV credits include Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, Corporate, New Girl, Hot in Cleveland, and an assortment of other sitcoms and films. His two albums, Hugs. Drugs. Pugs and Calm Down, Peasants have both reached #1 on Apple Music and Amazon. In 2020 he released a documentary-style special culled from a week in London. When Does the Club Shut? features Alex exploring the city while performing comedy in some of its most iconic clubs.
In 2018, Alex’s Pug Yoga Calendar  (a literal 12-month calendar featuring his dog Kimchi) went viral on Ellen, selling out immediately. His 2021 self-help book Roast Yourself To Happiness: A Comedian’s Guide to Embracing Your Flaws is a 28-day workbook teaching you how to love yourself…by hating yourself. As a personal-development junkie, Alex’s mental-health podcast, Achilles Heel, ran for 140 episodes as he interviewed some of the biggest names in comedy about overcoming their struggles.
In 2022, Alex was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Not shying away from his illness, he immediately began using it in his comedy. The L.A. Times stated, “With preternatural positivity and boundless amounts of love for his fellow comedians, his family, and his audience, Hooper has managed to turn cancer into a punchline and inspire his fans to appreciate life in the process.” In January 2024, he filmed his new special, Brace Yourself, focusing on cancer and the 33 days he spent in the hospital while battling sepsis. It will be released later this year.
